Marco Avellaneda, Professor of Mathematics and Director of the Division of Financial Mathematics at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences of New York University, earned his Ph.D. in 1985 from the University of Minnesota. In addition to teaching at NYU, he was a consultant for Banque Indosuez, New York, where he established a quantitative modeling group in FX options in 1996. Subsequently, he served as Vice-President in the Fixed-Income Division's Derivatives Products Group at Morgan Stanley & Co., where he remained until 1998. He is the managing editor of the International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Finance and associate editor of Communications in Pure and Applied Mathematics and the Journal of Quantitative Finance. He has published approximately 80 research papers and written a textbook entitled 'Quantitative Modeling of Derivative Securities: From Theory to Practice.'

Mark Broadie is a professor at the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University. His research focuses on problems in the pricing of derivative securities, risk management, and portfolio optimization. Professor Broadie is an associate editor of Mathematical Finance, Management Science, Operations Research, Review of Financial Studies and a founding co-editor of the Journal of Computational Finance. At Columbia, he teaches popular elective courses in security pricing and computational finance. He has given seminars and courses worldwide. Broadie has done extensive consulting for financial firms. Previously, he served as a vice president at Lehman Brothers in its fixed-income research group. He received a B.S. from Cornell University and Ph.D. from Stanford University.

Sid Browne, is currently Professor of Risk Management at the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University, where he received tenure in 1996. From June 1998 until January 2002, he was at Goldman Sachs where he was head of the Quantitative Modeling Group in the firm wide Risk Management Department. While there, he was directly responsible for all issues related to risk methodology, portfolio analytics and risk-based performance measurement, and is the co-inventor on two patents in these areas held by Goldman Sachs. He has published widely in academic and practitioner journals on quantitative approaches to asset allocation and mathematical finance. In particular, his work on active portfolio management strategies for institutional investors, including pension funds and insurance companies has received wide recognition. He has consulted widely to a variety of financial institutions.

Daniel J. Cardell, CFA, is the former Director of Equities at Weiss, Peck & Greer in New York, where he was responsible for the firm's Quantitative Equity Group in Chicago. Before joining Weiss, Peck and Greer, he was Director of Equities at the Bank of America. Previous experience includes positions with the investment staffs at Continental Bank, Mellon Bank and Maryland National Bank. Dan received his BS in Finance from Wilkes University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He also serves as a Board Member of the Chicago Quantitative Alliance.

Douglas DiPasquale, former Managing Director and Head Equity Trader at Weiss, Peck & Greer, has spent more than 13 years in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Weiss, Peck & Greer, he spent eight years at Goldman Sachs, where he served as the Vice President: Equity Trading. He began his career with Moody's Investors Service as a Junior Analyst in the Public Utilities Division. Doug holds a B.A. in Economics from Vassar College.

Todd Doersch is President and CEO of Cognitive Investment Management, a firm managing hedge funds for accredited investors. Prior to founding Cognitive Inv Mgmt, Todd was Senior VP and Chief Operating Officer at Fuller & Thaler Asset Management, Inc. Before that, Todd served as CEO of Barra RogersCasey Investment Consulting, among other leadership roles in the Barra organization. Todd earned two B.A. degrees from Stanford University where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and he earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School. Todd is a member of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Quantitative Alliance, and he has served as board member or strategic advisor for several start-up firms.

Peter Stern is a founder of Datek Online, a pioneer in online financial services. Mr. Stern was with Datek from its inception in 1996 through to its successful merger with Ameritrade in 2002. Mr. Stern is recognized in financial services industry as a visionary with a passion for making technology work for people. Prior to moving to New York City and founding Datek Online, Mr. Stern worked on many interesting research and development projects in the aerospace industry for six years. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University.

Roger Portnoy is the founder and owner of Starting-Right.com Limited, a specialist strategic consultant serving high growth financial technology and content entities. For the past 5yrs, Starting-Right has advised and fulfilled special projects for many of the leading application software and infrastructure vendors serving the world's most prestigious investment banks, hedge funds, and investment management firms. Prior to creating Starting-Right, Roger was a Director for Thomson Financial Services. At Thomson, Roger was one of the senior partners in the venture practice, and initiated over more than a decade the development of new transformational businesses for the investment banking, publishing and real-time markets group. Mr. Portnoy began his career in investment banking, helping UBS develop and expand their fixed income proprietary trading and capital market research practice.
